October 25, 2016

Concord, NH - Today, the Sierra Club of NH endorsed 67 state candidates in NH, including State Representative, State Senate, Executive Council and Governor. Aaron Gill, candidate for State Representative in Hillsborough County, District 2, Deering & Weare, was among those endorsed.

Aaron was present at the announcement in the Legislative Office Building today at 11a. He made the following remarks:

"My name is Aaron Gill and I'm running for State Representative in Hillsborough County, District 2. That's Deering & Weare. I'd like to thank the Sierra Club of NH for their endorsement.

I first moved to New Hampshire for better employment about 15 years ago, but what's kept me here is the abundant clean air & water, and outdoor recreational opportunities. That's the real New Hampshire advantage, not tax structure but clean air & water and public lands open for everyone.

I'm not a biologist, but I am a conservationist. I'm happy to help any way I can. I joined the Deering Conservation Commission in 2011 and I'm in my second term on the Board of Trustees for the Piscataquog Land Conservancy(the PLC), my region's staffed Land Trust. Between the two we've protected thousands of acres of critical habitat and water resources and I couldn't be more proud.

As I look forward to representing Deering & Weare in the General Court, having the support of the Sierra Club as a partner is a natural fit for my priorities as a citizen of this great state and a representative of my community. Thank you for this endorsement."

Founded by legendary conservationist John Muir in 1892, the Sierra Club is now the nation's largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization -- with more than two million members and supporters. Their successes range from protecting millions of acres of wilderness to helping pass the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act. More recently, they've made history by leading the charge to move away from the dirty fossil fuels that cause climate disruption and toward a clean energy economy.
